Free 4WD collection from Singapore AIRLINES FLIGHT SQ502 ONLY on Saturday 12th December. If you want to arrive on other flights, this will cost an additional $AUD100.00 unless further people are on your flight, in which case costs can be divided up. Day 1 - 13th December -Sleep in and meet for vegetarian lunch at the Hotel Restaurant (we will again stay at the Hari Priya) Afternoon trip to local cotton Sari weaving factory at a small village about 15km out of mandya. Transport in 4WD vehicles. In the evening fitting for hand made shoes with local artisans. You will have a choice of 2 styles only, of lasted bespoke shoes for walking. Day 2-14th December Getting to know the local textile artists, we will be working with Sheela, Sowbagya, Suguna and others to learn local South India cooking. Learn to make Marsala dosa, and other delicious healthy meals. Welcome party and eating in the evening. Day 3, 4- 15 &16th December Sit down to textile enjoyment. Stitch and make with local silk ends from local silk manufacturers. make embelished textiles. The local group will assist you to do shisha mirror work, bead work and other fancy work. Day 5 17th DecemberTour day. Trip to Mysore and local markets. Lunch then tour of local silk research station. Journey up Chaumundi Hill. Dinner in Mysore,then home. 4WD transport. Day 6- 18th DecemberComplete textile work in the morning. Cooking together in the aftenoon, we cook for the local ladies, our cooking exam! Evening get together, and farewells. Day 7 - 19th December- Last trip to sari factory, shoes will be delivered complete, and any final adjustments will be made. Some people will be departing for other tours, some people can choose to stay on at Hari Priya. Dinner at Hari Priya. The tour will end at Hari Priya Hotel after breakfast on Sunday 20th December. 2008 - tour with India and Nalda....see below.
Marion will be accepting bookings for the 2009 tour until the workshops are full. 2009 workshops will take place after the pickup on December 12. So we commence on December 13th- and conclude after breakfast on 20th 2009. Total cost for the India component of this workshop with meals and accomodation is $AUD1200.00 - you pay your airfare, we recommend Singapore airlines flight SQ503 into Bangalore and SQ502 return. Bookings must be accompanied by a deposit. $500.00 deposit and full payment is due no later than October 20th 2009. Visas need to be applied for earliest 60 days before travel. It can take 30 days to secure a visa to India.
