All our dyes are liquid, and we don't supply powder forms of dye. Our dyes discharge completely in most cases and keep on the shelf for 2 years in good condition. They are safer being in liquid form, powder dyes are not good in a household or studio situation. If you care about your environment but need to use bright synthetic colour, these dyes provide a solution. Our dyes are mixed by Marion of Beautiful Silks with rainwater from her rural property in a specific mixing situation, we take great care mixing our dyes. See our colour range - the entire range will be available from November 1st 2009. Until then, most of the primaries are in stock - for periphery colours you may have up to 3 weeks delay before you receive your stock.
Our dyes are full strength & are a 1ml to 2 gr ratio dye. All dyes are available in 50ml, 300ml, and 1 litre bottles.

STEAMFIX: These are for the serious silk painting, and need to be fixed by steam. Steamfix gives a vibrant rich lusturous colour finish that will last generations. To use steamfix dyes for silk painting, apply, dry and steam. To really get a good steaming make sure you wrap the silk in plain craft paper (UNUSED NEWSPAPER STOCK) and put into the steamer for a good hot steam, about 90 minutes. The dye will completely fix.
HEATFIX: This range gives excellent wash fast colour. This is a versatile dye which can painted on, used in a pot, microwave or solar fixed. Many of our customers use this dye, put it into a black plastic bag in a sunny spot, and leave it for the day, the dye is then fixed passively. The best dye on the market in Australia today, it leaves a clear water and discharges 100%. Heatfix dyes can be used in a pot, just add acetic acid - 1ml of dye will give full colour to 2gr weight of silk. Or you can paint on, let dry, and pop the fabric into bed with a warmelectric blanket to fix them. Or you can put the silk, and water, and acetic acid into a plastic container with water, microwave for 10 minutes and leave overnight to completely absorb the dye leaving clear water which you can reuse for your next dye batch. Alternatively you can put the dye and stuff to be dyed into a conatiner, with water, into a black plastic bag, into hot sun for the day, leave overnight then rinse in the morning. So this Heatfix dye is extremely versatile clean and easy to use.. (N.B.acetic acid is in cheap white vinegar, use white vinegar from the supermarket)
INSTANT DYE: This dye grabs into the fibre and colours it instantly. It is fantastic for colour testing, making painted backgrounds for embroidery, colouring that little bit of thread for a project, or using in print paste for intense colour. See how we use these dyes here
