Marion learned dressmaking from her mother, and constructed her first garment at the age of eight. Mother Eileen is still sought after in her district for dress-making at the age of 86; Marion has over 40 years of experience.

But plenty of tailors can say that.

What makes us different at Beautiful Silks is that we have a range of over 100 wedding silk fabrics in stock that you can see, hold and feel, from the heaviest to the sheerest. We have, in addition, samples of over 1000 more that we can get with a short lead time.

We know how to use silks: how they look, how they drape, and even (if you’re planning on handing them on to younger sisters or cousins) how they wash and dye. If you don’t see what you like and have seen something maybe overseas, or someone wearing a glamourous piece on TV or in a magazine, tell us and chances are we can find it for you.

We have a team of experienced female tailors in Australia, all who have worked in creative fashion. We do not send wedding dresses to be made offshore. Our individually-tailored garments fit real women of all sizes. We can offer you expert advice on problems posed by weight loss before your Wedding or bloating, as well as picking the perfect gown for a Second Wedding, maternity wedding dresses, picking the right silhouette for your gown, picking your gown colour and how to flatter your figure. We can even advise on corsetry.

We have a range of industrial modern machines. We have a whole design studio available for the making of your special garment for your perfect day.

Or, if you want to make the garment yourself, attend one of our classes on how to cut your pattern and dye your fabric.

First 15 minutes of any consultation free. After that, at $20 per quarter hour plus GST.

Dyes - we sell them, or can arrange contract dyeing for you to any shade on any paint colour chart. However, minimum charges apply.
