Marion and our amazing crew of award-winning young designers including National Gallery of Victoria exhibitor Saskia Baur-Schmidt, and international designer Ivett Simon accept commissions for one-off garments,
such as wedding dresses, theatre costumes and garments for graduations
and deb balls, as well as commissions for ranges of garments,
such as maternity wear, undyed garments which can be coloured to
the wish of the boutique owner or stockist (or end-user), and timeless
classic designs for mature ladies.
Individual garments are tailored in Australia. Multiple copies of
the one design of garment can be tailored in Australia or offshore,
where lower wages may make the process more affordable. Shipping
problems may mean that offshore manufacture is somewhat slower.
A concept fee applies for initial consultation of up to one hour
and design, in the order of $250 per garment. The hourly charge for
production is $100 in Australia for individual garments; for multiple
garments in the one design, manufacture is subcontracted and a fee
of $250 is charged for arranging the subcontract, plus a commission
of 20% for quality control, project management, and arranging logistics
(minimum charge applies). Materials used must be sourced from our
warehouse or our suppliers and are invoiced at our ruling retail
rate for retail customers, and wholesale rate for wholesale customers.
From time to time there is a need for a rush job, particularly where
other suppliers have been unable to meet the needs of a client. We
are pleased to undertake rush jobs, and offer a special “drop
everything else, and attend to my needs now” service.
The service
attracts a premium of 50%, subject to a minimum up-front fee of $1200
exclusive of materials cost. Due to the urgency it is often not possible
to subcontract the manufacture of rush job garments.
