Schools and Silk Education

If you want to educate your students about silk, we have a special offer for school group tours. You can view our studion, see our Sericulture Silk production DVD which shows all the stages of silk workm growth and development and have questions answered by one of our senior staff free with any purchase of $500 or more. Note student discounts do not apply on free tours.

The silk DVD by itself is available for $30 posted.

Our silk Instant Dyes are easy to use and perfect for the busy teacher. A small silk painting project can be completed within your lesson plan time. A kit with instuctions and a silk hemmed bandanna can be supplied to you for your class at wholesale rates. If you find you are on a very tight budget, we have silk remnants that we sell by the bundle for $2.20 per mtr. These remnants average 90cm square and are suitable for silk painting, pot dyeing and nuno felting.

Who can join?

Any school and any organisation of textile, fibre or fabric artists (doesn’t have to be a formal organisation) in Australia can register.

• To register for school wholesale prices, just link your website to ours and joint our friends on facebook- Beautiful Silks is our site name.
• Remind us that our sites are linked and that we're on your facebook page as a friend at the time of the purchase and make sure we have the name, phone number (landline) and email address of the relevant contact person within your school or group.
• Your registration entitles your group or school to wholesale prices. Approved organisations can open an account with us, we have aformal account agreement, please ask for this if you wqant to have an account with us.
• It's great if you can introduce us to another teaching organisation at the same time.
  

How does it work?

Wholesale prices if you are an approved teaching organisation as above: minimum wholesale purchase is $500.

You get 10% off retail price of non-discounted stock for any purchase of $500 or more in one transaction (except during free school tours).

You get 20% off retail price of non-discounted stock for any purchase of $1250 or more in one transaction.

Full-time students get 20% discount on the price of workshops.

If your school buys more than $1250 worth of stock in one transaction then, apart from the 20% discount, you get unlimited professional development classes for 12 months at 25% off. These have been designed to satisfy the 10 external hours each year you will need to do if applying for re-registration in 2010. We've ticked all the boxes for you to provide all the evidence you need for re-registration.

We also design one-off workshops so that teachers can accumulate professional development hours.
