Other businesses have as their core objective, the selling of products. We have as our core objective, the entire textile experience.
Yes, we sell silk, dyes, yarns, garments and threads. We also host a series of masterclass workshops. And because we’re trading in the market, at our own retail site, at trade fairs, and amongst textile people who attend our classes and workshops, we have constant feedback which we use to improve our range of products and services. So not only can we sell you the raw materials for making your objects of desire, but we can also help you make your objects of desire -- and inspire you to do more.
We've taken the time when sourcing our stocks to ensure that they are made ethically and with our environment in mind. Do good and feel real when you buy from Beautiful Silks.

A proud Australian family tradition stretching back seven generations.
Michael Cashmore arrived in Melbourne in 1840, and his textile business -- Melbourne's first documented drapery -- was set up only 6 years after the town was founded. Cashmore's shop was Melbourne's first brick building, on the corner of Collins and Elizabeth Sts. Over 165 years later, his great-great-etc grandson Jon Yaakov Gorr and his wife Marion Hera Gorr carry on the family tradition on textiles. Their own business has a 50 year trading history, and it's carried on at their Fitzroy warehouse, where they've been, bar a short interruption, since 1993. Marion is assisted by a wonderful team of staff both in Melbourne and interstate. Their partner Peter Lucena is demonstrably Australasia's most senior and most experienced textiles dealer.
So when we say, If we don't stock it, we may be able to get it for you, we have the people and the experience to do it.
