Students will also get the chance to try out knitting with thinner, “sock” yarns and finer needles.
Class content: The basics of toe up sock knitting. You will learn:
· Different cast on styles including; Figure 8, Turkish & Judy’s Magic Cast On
· Heel construction
· Stretchy cast off methods
· Grafting/Kitchener Stitch
Plus; choosing the right materials, types of knitting needles, sock anatomy, and foot measurement. You will also get the chance to try different techniques of circular knitting. We will discuss different types of sock construction, toe closures, applying different stitch patterns, using texture and colourwork. Sue will have lots of examples of different socks on hand for study and inspiration throughout the class. Class notes will be provided.
